Still Lifes is a photo series presenting quickly assembled, collage-like ready-made sculptures that form strange yet recognizable bodies.
A chair leg, a pot’s belly, a shoe’s tongue, and a teapot’s nose merge into temporary sculptural figures, created and photographed in domestic spaces before being hidden among other arrangements in an IKEA catalogue.
Still Lifes
by Maarit Bau Mustonen and Laura Cemin
Inkjet prints on poster paper, IKEA catalogue
19.2 × 22.4 cm
Presented as part of the group show Bones et al. at Oksasenkatu 11, Helsinki, in August 2026.
The work was supported by Finnish Cultural Fund and their Uusimaa Regional Fund.
